PO befriends an aloof, dumb man who has impressed him in a big way. YING congratulates PO on his promotion, but reveals to him at the same time that her relationship with TONG is getting worse. YING realizes that there is something wrong with TONG. TONG is actually one of the helmsmen of the anti-Qing political organization, Sun Moon Society, and has been plotting to assassinate the Empress Dowager.
