De negentienjarige Nelson is een Puerto Ricaanse schoolverlater uit de South Bronx die op zoek is naar een ticket om het getto te verlaten. Thaddeus, 22, geeft een gemakkelijke baan als effectenmakelaar op om fantasieën over de moord op Osama Bin Laden na te streven. Sara, 22, een danseres uit North Carolina, slaagt er niet in om in New York te komen en verlaat haar beste vriendin om naar huis terug te keren. Meegesleept door de patriottische hartstocht die volgde op 11 september, dromen deze jonge Amerikanen ervan om voor hun land te vechten, om de helden te zijn die de hoofdrol spelen in de gelikte reclamecampagnes die door het leger worden uitgezonden.
