Il cammino che porta alla felicità

Luo Yusheng ritorna al villaggio natale nel nord della Cina, per l'improvvisa morte del padre avvenuta durante la sua permanenza in città. Lo zio e il capo del villaggio lo informano delle ultime volontà del padre e dei funerali che dovranno essere celebrati, secondo la madre, osservando le antiche tradizioni rituali: la donna affranta da quella perdita desidera che il marito venga ricondotto a "braccio" sulla strada verso casa e che un drappo tessuto di sua mano ne avvolga le spoglia.
